Vegan Lemon-Thyme Braised Short Ribs + Tangelo Saffron Scallops

Lemon-Thyme Agave Braised Vegan Short Ribs +
Seared Tofu Scallops with Mineola Tangelo Saffron Sauce

Sweet Sally Sassafras, I have been cooking up a storm lately. Let me impress upon you that the typical amount of time I spend in my kitchen already far exceeds normal. No, I do not own a dishwasher. Yes, my hands are softer than a baby's behind that smells consistently of garlic. An avid home cook really cannot do wrong by indulging in fine moisturizers, liniments & oils.

On the downside, I have finally concluded that my POS oven is inadequate in every way. I have given it many chances. When I want to boil, it burns. When I want to simmer, it shuts off. When I want to roast, it chars. Enough is enough. I am breaking open my Carrot Bank (vegans can't have Piggy Banks, right?), and splurging on something I deserve. I have intimate nighttime visions of me growing hot and sweaty as I show this beast who's boss:
Unfortunately, my credit card limit tells me I'll just have to keep my pants on for now. I will have to settle for the hand-holding, schoolyard puppy love oven of my day dreams, which I believe will be satisfying in it's own sweet way:

This little beauty performs every function I could possibly desire. It even has a "Chicken Nugget" button, which means I will immediately buy some Vegan Nugs to make a bold statement.

I had to remove this week's recipes. You can find them in my Cookbook. I left the photos here to entice you...

ps - i'm so bummer i can't get the caesar salad recipe anymore. boohoo. i should have printed it!
Hallelujah for new ovens! The orange Viking is totally drool-worthy, but the other beauty will enhance your kitchen experiences, I'm sure.

The vegan surf & turf looks tempting! I'm holding out for vegan Brie and vegan pain au chocolat, though... ;)

omg you're so crazy, girl! I thought I was bad with my deep luv for smoked paprika, haha.

The short ribs, tofu scallops, and french toast all look amazing - perfectly perfect!

(i keep staring at the tofu scallops, that is a trip!)

As always, your food looks AMAZING. I am drooling over those ribs. . .and those scallops! Congrats on the new stove--looking forward to what else you'll be making in it!

Mmm that french toast looks killer.

And a chicken nugget button on the oven?! Please tell me America hasn't come to that...

The new oven will be a dream come true, trust me. I nearly had a heart attack of bliss the first time I baked tofu in the oven I get to use this year. Good ovens are the jam!

Nice oven!! We have one of those flat cooktop things. I hate it. I can't wait to move, although it sounds like it is going to be awhile.

By the way, I thought about you the other day...I don't know if you ever read my comments about your book, but I found jackfruit in my new grocery store last week! Very exciting!
Oooh that pan seared tofu looks amazing, I can just imagine it melting in my mouth! Great photos.

Woah... you and I share the same oven dreams! I'm not quite ready to make a change, but I'm pretty sure you're #2 is the way I'm going to go, too.

Your food looks incredible, as always! Turf never looked so good.

Yes, I too dream of a new oven. I saw a site that has retro style ovens and fridges. They are beautiful but cost so freakin' much. I'll just have to keep dreaming.

I love the surf and turf. Yum!

Thank you for clarifying what POS means. Your posts always crack me up. Sorry you can't get the oven you're so sexually aroused by. Money sucks sometimes, right? Lol. The food looks beautiful! I can't wait for the recipes. And I can't wait to see what you create with your new oven. Hooray!

When I got a new kitchen I went for 6 gas rings and 2 ovens. I think I should have gone for 5 rings (one double/wok ring) and a wider single oven.

Either way, a bigger oven will change you life!

Thanks, Mazuhl...5 burners are amazing if you have the large center burner. Then you can grill indoors :)
